Chapter Information

Message from the President
Welcome to Western Michigan ISACA Chapter web site!
Our goal is to support and promote the IT control, governance, and audit
professions in the West Michigan area. There are many advantages to becoming an ISACA member. Our Chapter has many
active members that make it possible to provide quality local educational programs and professional networking
opportunities. Our Board develops the schedule of meeting topics and locations based on membership feedback. Keeping
in mind the diverse geography of our membership; which is mainly split between Grand Rapids and Lansing, we will
strive to provide opportunities in both locations. We appreciate your feedback and are always willing to try new
things to meet the needs of more of our members.
ISACA and its affiliated IT
Governance Institute aim to be the leading source of professional information
for all IT Governance professionals, whether in IT, information security or
audit. The CISA certification is globally recognized among IT professionals and
the CISM designation continues to grow in prominence among IT management.
Some of our Chapter goals this year are:
·
To give back to our membership
through free and low cost quality trainings to current members. We are looking forward to provide our
membership with monthly training opportunities starting around October and at
least two full day seminars.
·
To offer more certification study
opportunities.
·
To reach out to student members and
those in education.
·
To update our By-laws to include
additional board positions.
As many professional organizations
do, we depend on volunteers to operate the Chapter successfully. If you are not
able to commit to being a board member, you are welcome to serve on a committee
position where you can assist with a specific activity or event. Contact one of
the Board members if you would like to get more involved.
On behalf of the Western Michigan
Chapter’s Board of Directors, we hope you get a great deal of value from our
program this year!
Bob Kern
President, ISACA
The Western Michigan Chapter of ISACA is chapter
number thirty-eight of the chapters that comprise the global presence
that is the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. ISACA was formed
in 1969 and our chapter was formed in 1979.
The local chapter comprises over one hundred members representing banking, insurance, manufacturing, computer services, and state government. The members can attend, as well as assist in the development of, chapter meetings and seminars to improve their knowledge of information technology governance activities and business controls to mitigate business risks. Trust is good, but business controls are better.
